UGAT (UNDER GRADUATE APTITUDE TEST)


Q. What is the UGAT?

A. The UGAT is a test conducted at national / international level for admission to University-approved Bachelor Programs such as BBA, BCA, BHM, etc.


Q. When and how many times is the UGAT conducted each year?

A. The UGAT is usually conducted once each year (May/June).


Q. What is the minimum qualification for the UGAT?

A. The minimum qualification is 10+2 or equivalent from a recognised Board. Those who are appearing / appeared in 10+2 can also apply.


Q. What is the cost of UGAT Bulletin?

A. At present, the cost of the UGAT bulletin is Rs. 450/- by cash across the counter and Rs. 500/- against Demand Draft (DD) by post.


Q: Who should the Demand Draft be in favour of?
A. The Demand Draft should be made in favour of “AIMA-CMS” payable at New Delhi.


Q. Is the UGAT held all over India? What about candidates living abroad?

A. The UGAT is conducted in all major cities in India and in about 12 leading cities abroad. For further clarification, see the UGAT Bulletin or contact us.

AMT (ACCREDITED MANAGEMENT TEACHER)


Q1.What is AMT?

A1. The Accredited Management Teacher (AMT) Certification is administered by Centre for Management Services of AIMA, New Delhi since 1996. AMT is an objective assessment of academic achievements and professional experience in teaching, research, consultancy, training, industry, business etc.

The AMT designation becomes the formal recognition of certain required level of proficiency in providing quality management instruction.


Q2.What is the purpose of the certification?

A2. AMT was initiated to provide a common forum where practicing managers, consultants, management teachers and Business Schools could come together to fulfill the need of full time resource / visiting faculty to various B Schools.


Q3.Who can take the AMT? What are the eligibility criteria for AMT?

A3. AMT certification is for those eligible candidates who have an industry or academic experience and aptitude for management teaching. They have to present themselves before AMT accreditation board for becoming an Accredited Management Teacher.

Eligibility criteria:

Qualification :
Post Graduate Degree or equivalent in a discipline relevant to management education.

Experience :

Post Graduate level regular teaching experience of minimum 3 years. Or
Industry / consultancy / training / research experience of minimum 5 years.

Note: Experience will be counted subsequent to achieving the requisite PG Degree or equivalent qualification.

Additional weightage given for :

a) Consistently good academic performance upto postgraduate qualification. Doctoral qualification relevant to management / business administration subjects is desirable.

b) Academic distinction / achievements in the area of specialization.

c) Study materials development in the area of specialization (teaching notes, case studies, working papers, monographs, textbooks etc.)

d) Contribution to body of knowledge through publication of research articles and research concentration in frontier areas of management.

e) Use of innovative pedagogical tools during the presentation like computer, role-plays, case methods of teachings, business simulation etc.

The Accreditation board comprising of highly reputed academic from institutes of excellence, senior practicing managers and consultants with proven track record would conduct interviews with candidates to assess his / her knowledge base, teaching style and familiarity with pedagogical tools.


Q4. How much is the registration fee?

A4. Registration fee is Rs.2500/-, which is a one-time fee. Rs.1500/- is refunded if the candidate does not get accreditation.


Q5. How can I register for AMT?


A5. The registration procedure is as follows:

 Application form is free of cost. The form can be downloaded from our website (NewPDF-1/AMT_FORM_21.07.pdf) . It can also be sent on request.

 Attach two passport size photographs, self attested copies of relevant certificates with the form.

 Select the field of specialization in the form. The certificate will be issued in the area/ specialization mentioned in the application form as ‘Core Area of Specialization’ only.

 Submission of the form and registration fee to AIMA, New Delhi. The application has to be completely filled.

 Applicant needs to prepare a presentation related to his / her field of specialization.

 AMT Presentation and interviews are conducted once in a month i.e. normally on third Monday of each month at AIMA, New Delhi.

 Applicant needs to present himself for the panel interaction on the scheduled date and time at AIMA, New Delhi.

 After the presentation within a week's time he/she will be intimated about the results.

Q6. What is the presentation pattern?

A6. The applicant presents a topic of his/her choice related to his/her area of specialization. Presentation has to be a power point presentation. Presentation equipment is provided by AIMA. The duration of the presentation should not be more than 20 minutes. This is followed by interaction with the panel.

Q7. Who benefits from AMT?

A7.The AMT applicant adds value to his/her profile by getting the prestigious certification of AIMA. The Management Institutions utilize the data of AMTs for their academic assignments. The data provides them a ready reference of certified faculties. AMT data is also refered by the corporates for their consulting or research purposes. For Management Development Programs and Trainings also, corporates utilize the data of Certified Management Teachers of AIMA.

Q8. What are the other benefits to AMTs?

A8.By becoming an AMT ample opportunities shall unfold in the areas of teaching, research, training and consultancy. It helps in networking with management academics, consultants, practitioners and business schools across the country.
AMTs brief resume shall find its due place in the database of full time / resource / visiting faculty members and the B Schools shall have access to this exclusive database.

CAREER FAIRS


Q. What is "Career Options"?

A. To educate the student community about various career alternatives, AIMA has been organising career fairs titled "Career Options" since 1998.


Q. Whom does AIMA target through the Career Fairs?

A. AIMA invites professional institutions from different streams across India to participate as Exhibitors. Apart from educational institutions, AIMA invites Placement Consultants, Educational Websites and Educational Aid Providers to offer their services to students. The Career Fairs’ visitors are students of 10+2 and final year graduation, teachers, parents and people related to the education industry.


Q. What is the objective of the event?

A. The objective of the Career Fairs is to provide the visitors career counselling and guidance on professional courses and to educate them on the wide range of career alternatives present today. The Career Fairs also provide an opportunity for educational institutions to interact with students and inform them about their courses and offerings. For institutions that are geographically dispersed or expanding their operations, such fairs prove to be a good marketing platform. Our aim is to provide a win – win situation to the participants as well as to the visitors. Coming together on a single platform and disseminating information and sharing of knowledge constitute the fundamental motive behind such fairs.


Q. Where AIMA has conducted Career Fairs?

A. AIMA has successfully conducted Career Fairs at Chennai, Cochin, Delhi, Kolkata, Lucknow, Ludhiana, Mumbai and twice at Allahabad, Chandigarh and Jodhpur.

CPG (CENTRE FOR PUBLIC GOVERNANCE)


Q. What is the "CPG"?

A. It has been well established through several studies and research findings that poorly functioning public institutions and weak governance are major constraints to growth and equitable development in many developing countries. AIMA, in collaboration with the Bangalore Management Association, had organised a National Convention on Public Governance at Bangalore in 2002. At the conclusion of the Convention, a Bangalore Declaration was issued, based on which the Centre for Public Governance (CPG) was set up at AIMA.


Q. What is the aim of the CPG?

A. The CPG aims at identifying management practices in public governance, which have been successful in benefiting the masses. It is intended to identify such proven practices, so that such practices can be adopted and implemented elsewhere; without re-inventing the wheel. The core consideration is the well – being of citizens, particularly the lesser privileged. The CPG aims at "Governance with Concern for People".


Q. What are the activities of the CPG?

A. Lecture Series on Public Governance: AIMA - CPG conducted a monthly lecture series on the topic "Transparency and Accountability in Public Governance". So far 3 lectures have been delivered, which is being organised in collaboration with the IC Centre for Governance. Mr. Ved Marwah, Governor of Jharkhand, delivered the first lecture in October 2004. The second lecture was given by Mr. Yogendra Narain, Secretary General of the Rajya Sabha. The December 2004 lecture was delivered by former Chief Justice of India, Mr. J S Verma.

National Convention and Workshop on Public Governance: AIMA-CPG organised the National Convention and Workshop on the theme "Public Governance Dividends – The Road Ahead" at New Delhi on December 10 – 11, 2004 in collaboration with Indian Institute of Public Administration and the IC Centre for Governance. The strategic partner was George Mason University, USA. Over 300 delegates representing government, industry, academia, NGOs, foreign embassies, etc. attended the Convention. The Workshop was for about 50 select experts, and was conducted under the expertise of Dr. Kingsley, Dean of School of Public Policy, George Mason University. The Chief Guest at the inaugural session was the Hon’ble Home Minister Mr. Shivraj V Patil. The valedictory address was given by the Chief Election Commissioner Mr. T S Krishnamurthy.
